چکیده

Within the spirit of Dirac’s canonical quantization, noncommutative spacetime field theories are introduced by making use of the reparametrization invariance of the action and of an arbitrary non-canonical symplectic structure. This construction implies that the constraints need to be deformed, resulting in an automatic Drinfeld twisting of the generators of the symmetries associated with the reparametrized theory. We illustrate our procedure for the case of a scalar field in 1+1spacetime dimensions, but it can be readily generalized to arbitrary dimensions and arbitrary types of fields.

Symmetries, Mircocausality and Physics on Canonical Noncommutative Spacetime

In this paper we describe how to implement symmetries on a canonical noncommutative spacetime. We focus on noncommutative Lorentz transformations. We then discuss the structure of the light cone on a canonical noncommutative spacetime and show that field theories formulated on these spaces do not violate mircocausality. A natural way to implement the notion of minimal length 1 in gauge theories...

On Time-Space Noncommutativity for Transition Processes and Noncommutative Symmetries

We explore the consequences of time-space noncommutativity in the quantum mechanics of atoms and molecules, focusing on the Moyal plane with just time-space noncommutativity ([x̂μ, x̂ν ] = iθμν , θ0i ≡/ 0, θij = 0). Space rotations and parity are not automorphisms of this algebra and are not symmetries of quantum physics. Still, the spectral degeneracies of a time-independent Hamiltonian due to s...

Noncommutative Gauge Theory on the q-deformed Euclidean Plane

The physical nature of space at very short distances is still not known. Already Heisenberg proposed in a letter to Peierls [1] that spacetime is quantized below some scale, suggesting that this could help to resolve the problem of infinities in quantum field theories. With this motivation, there has been a lot of work and progress in the formulation of quantum field theory on quantized or nonc...

Space-Time Noncommutativity, Discreteness of Time and Unitarity

Violation of unitarity for noncommutative field theory on compact spacetimes is considered. Although such theories are free of ultraviolet divergences, they still violate unitarity while in a usual field theory such a violation occurs when the theory is nonrenormalizable. The compactness of space-like coordinates implies discreteness of the time variable which leads to appearance of unphysical ...

Noncommutative Quantization in 2D Conformal Field Theory

The simplest possible noncommutative harmonic oscillator in two dimensions is used to quantize the free closed bosonic string in two flat dimensions. The partition function is not deformed by the introduction of noncommutativity, if we rescale the time and change the compactification radius appropriately. The four point function is deformed, preserving, nevertheless, the sl(2,C) invariance. Fin...
